Yams are one of the oldest food plants known. They are also one of the most popular and widely consumed foods in the world today.

Yams have many wonderful health benefits. Unfortunately, most people cook yams, which causes them to lose a great amount of its valuable nutrients. I want to offer you an alternative recipe that doesn’t require any cooking and will allow you to take full advantage of all it’s health benefits.

Here are some of the Health Benefits:

– They contain antioxidants which are compounds in plants that protect your cells from damage.

– Yams contain B6 and with the antioxidants together can also help reduce premenstrual symptoms according to Michael T. Murray, author of “The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods.”

– Yams contain potassium and small amounts of Fiber

Here is a delicious recipe I made you might want to try. You will need a juicer for this recipe.

Sweet Yam Cocktail:

•1 medium Yam
•2 carrots
•1 apple
•1/2 inch of fresh ginger root or more if you like a kick
