7 Reasons to consume more Cucumbers

In my opinion, Cucumbers are a SUPERFOOD. They can be used for so many different healing situations. Cucumbers are said to be the anti-aging secret because of their ability to hydrate your body and nourish the cells on a cellular level. They are 95% water and provide us with most all of the vitamins, Antioxidants and Flavonoids we need to thrive!


Here are a few benefits of cucumbers:

Hair and Skin– Cucumbers can be used to soothe sunburns and it’s anti-inflammation properties can reduce puffiness under the eyes. You can also rub slices of cucumber over areas on the head to stimulate hair growth with it’s silicon and sulfur properties.

Weight Loss and Diuretic– Because of its high water consistency, Cucumbers are excellent in restoring hydration to the cells and supplying the necessary electrolytes, thus reducing water retention. Additionally, The high water content and dietary fiber are beneficial in eliminating toxins from the digestive system, helping digestion.

Digestion– Juicing Cucumbers will provide you with soluble fiber that help nutrients get absorbed through the intestinal tract. You can receive benefits of both the soluble and insoluble fiber by eating the cucumber with the skin still intact.

Balances the body PH– The body can become acidic from environmental toxins and from the Standard American Foods we consume, like meats, dairy, cheeses, grains and nuts. If the body become too acidic, then it begins to break down the cells and tissue of the body. Cucumbers are a wonderful addition to reverse this acidic condition, because its a high water vegetable and extremely alkaline. This will help restore the body’s PH and hydrate the cells on a cellular level. I recommend reaching for the cucumber as often as you can and eat them whole or add them into your green juices.

Prevention of Kidney and Bladder Stones: Some studies have shown that regular consumption of cucumbers in your green juice or eaten whole, can help regulate uric acid. This can be beneficial in preventing kidney and bladder stones.

Relives Gout and Arthritis Pain- Cucumbers contain Silica, helping to strengthen connective tissue and dissolve acid crystals in the joints, promoting joint health. Also, Because of its Vitamins, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium, It  can lower uric acid which can help relieve Arthritis and gout pain. Try adding in a few carrots with your cucumbers the next time you make juice.

 Hangover Preventive– Before going to bed, try downing a big 16 oz  juice made with Cucumbers, Celery, Romaine and Lemon. Cucumbers contain plenty of B vitamins and water to nourish the cells and the Celery will deliver salts, minerals and electrolytes; the Romaine calms the nervous system and hydrates; and finally the Vitamin C from the lemon to flush.
