According to the American Cancer Society, Beta Carotene may prevent certain cancers by enhancing the white blood cells in the immune system. White blood cells work to block cell-damaging free radicals.

The orange pigment that is found in certain fruits and vegetables is derived from Beta Carotene, which is also a carotenoid compound.

Beta Carotene has been shown to aid with Alzheimer’s disease, cataracts, cystic fibrosis and may help reduce the progression of age-related macular degeneration.
